Baptism of Infants and Children up to age 6

Sacraments are a visible sign of God’s invisible grace” (St. Augustine).

Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation. For infants, the Church recommends that infants are baptized within the first few weeks of birth. Children up to the age of 6 are considered “Infants.”

Since the Lord’s Day is the preeminent day for Baptism, Baptisms can be celebrated either at Mass on Sunday or outside of Mass on either Sunday or Saturday.

New parents are required to participate in Infant Baptism preparation sessions while godparents are welcome to participate but are not required. For English sessions, please contact Fr. To serve as a Godparent:                                                      

A person must be at least 16 years old. 

A person must be a fully initiated Roman Catholic, that is, Baptized, Confirmed and has received First Eucharistic.

A person must be actively practicing the Catholic Faith, going to Mass on Sunday and receiving the Sacraments.

If married, a person must be married in the Catholic Church.

For children who are 7 years old and older                 

The Church offers the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Although those who are 7 - 18 years of age are still minors, they have reached the age of reason and need the appropriate preparation and instruction for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
